After that initial visit to ABC vet, we got a call the same week that her fecal exam came back positive for giardia and I had to go pick up more meds for that. I looked up giardia and the main symptom is terrible diarrhea, but Gaz' poop was solid and she acted normal so I wasn't convinced but they know better of course.

3 weeks after that initial visit we went back to check on both her ear drum and the giardia. Her ear drum healed just fine as expected, and they did another fecal test to check up on the giardia. That second visit was quite painful compared to the first visit though. I had scheduled an appointment at the initial visit for the follow up but when I got there they didn't have that appt on the books. The staff was nowhere near as friendly at the second visit and they kept referring to Gaz as a boy. The last straw was after I had left and they called me back to say that Gaz did still have the giardia and I needed more meds, but they had forgotten to weigh her so I needed to bring her back in so they could calculate the dosage for the meds. I was told to bring her back again in another 3 weeks for a follow up but I knew I wouldn't be going back.

I got home and started looking up new vets because there was no way I was going to have them do Gaz' spay. A few weeks later I found Dr. Darnell of Shelter Island Vet through the San Diego frenchie meet up group and scheduled Gaz' follow up with her. By this time it had been about six weeks and ABC Vet never called to remind me I needed to bring Gaz in again. I didn't expect them to, but in my opinion a good office would have called!
Dr. Darnell owns two frenchies so I was more comfortable with having her do the spay anyway. We got there and Gaz was overdue for her Rabies shot so we got that taken care of. I scheduled the spay and left but called the next day to get an estimate on the cost. It was so expensive! I should have know the office was too fancy for my budget by the TV and art on the walls hahaha, but at least we got the Rabies shot taken care of.

I went home and again looked to the meet up group for more vet suggestions and found Dr. Simpson of Spring Valley Vet Clinic. There was a disclaimer that Dr. Simpson is busy and doesn't often accept new clients, so I wasn't surprised when I called and asked if they were taking new clients and the receptionist said no. But then she asked me what kind of pet and I told her a Frenchie and she put me on hold for about 5 seconds then came back and said they'd take a Frenchie. :) :) :) I asked how much a spay would be and she said around $300 so I scheduled Gaz for Tuesday, Nov 3rd.

Good luck with the new vet, I think you are following your "gut" on what is right for your girl. How did she do on her spay?
