hello there!!
we have a 4 month old fawn frenchie called horris!! he has been with us for a week and a half now,but is still finding it hard to settle on a night.he sleeps in the front room, where he has his bed and toys, but as soon as i close the door he barks and yelps.i haved tried ignoring him,but sometimes he will bark for half an hour and i worry he will wake the children and the neighbours!!! my husband works long hours and is getting rather annoyed.if i go into horris and tell him to be quiet he thinks its play time and starts bounding around!!
any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated, thankyou!!!!

I've had Brulee in my bedroom with me since I got him but his snoring has become so loud that I have to put him in the ensuite now so he can still hear me in the next room. As he is a bit older now he doesn't seem to mind it, but love him as I do I couldn't resign myself to a life of earplugs for him!! If I leave the bedroom for a second though he's in my bed in an instant, always in the spot in the bed i've just left as it's the warmest!!! Little monkey!!

With Daffodil we just played with her all evening until she could barely keep her eyes open and then put a little treat in her crate every night for a week or so. Since she was so exhausted she only cried for 10 min if that for the first two nights or so. Frenchies are smart and she caught on soon enough.

Although, she never misses a beat. I've caught her napping on our bed hidden behind pillows, stuffed bears and once i swear she tucked herself under the blankets... tricky...

The one thing that has worked for every dog I've ever had is to wrap one of those wind-up alarm clocks in a towel and tie it. I put the clock in the cage with a blanket. I don't know whether it sounds like a heartbeat or not but it has done the trick for four dogs. Lexi, my frenchie, would curl up with it every night and go right to sleep. After about a month, I got rid of the clock and she was fine.

If Horris goes back to barking and crying at night, you might want to try the clock.

I hope it works out... just set him up in his own bed next to yours and all will be well. Abby seems to snore when her head is elevated on the puffy part of her bed... if it's bad, I'll shift her to a more flat position and she doens't make a peep... I have to do that to my husband sometimes too! LOL!

Maximus snores so loud that we cannot have him sleep in the room with us because he keeps my boyfriend up all night. The first month that we had maximus sleeping in another room I left the radio on very low. This seemed to work for us because he slept through the night without a bark.

I agree! We had the same problem at first. After a couple of nights of crying, hers and mine, we brought Abby into our bedroom. Now she snoozes the night away, happy as a lark.

Good morning and congratulations on your new pup..

I think your pup is barking and crying because he is afraid.. and alone..Until you brought him home, he was with his littermates and possibly his Mother..all of a sudden , he is by himself and more than likely in the dark.. So, he cries and barks..
When I brought my pup home, the breeder advised me to keep her in my bedroom..This way ,she was not alone.. could hear me and the noise of people. In addition, I was able to take her out, when she indicated she needed to go..

The main point is that she was no longer afraid,, she was not alone.. So if possible, try to bring the pup in your bedroom. you will be surprised at the difference it makes.
