I got to Dr. Simpson's early to fill out the initial paperwork and left Gaz in their care at 9:00 a.m. I know this is a standard procedure and Dr. Simpson is great with brachycephalic breeds (he owns and shows Frenchies to top it off), but the minute I got into the car I started crying! I was told to call at 4 pm to see what time I could pick her up so all day I was anxious to make that call and hear that my Gaz monkey was okay and ready to come home. Oh I also asked them to microchip her while…

Hi, I am new on here and I have a 6 month old Frenchie called Hugo. He has recently come up in bumps all over he's body. The bumps come and go very quickley and seem to move around the body. He has been on royal canin from since I bought him at 9 weeks. He comes to work with me and has the bumps come up at work and at home. The only thing I can think it is , is the carpets as I have used Glades shake and Vac, both at work and at home. Hugo rolls around on the carpet alot, so that makes me think…

Roxy is my roommates dog and she has had a skin condition since he got her. He has now decided to give her away because he can't do anything else for her. I love her so much but I cant afford to take on the responsibility of taking her to the vet because it is so expensive. She has been before and she has been tested for mange-negative, I took her to the groomers and they gave me a non allergy food which helped some but she still doesn't have fur on her stomach. Does anyone know what I can do fo…

Hi there everyone!
So happy to have found this site. I really hope I can get some additional advice from other Frenchie people who might have had the same experiences I'm having.
Scenario:
I rescued my female Frenchie, Rosalie Bean, last Fall. When I picked her up from the rescue group, she was nearly dead from starvation. She was 11 months old and weighed 6 lbs. She also had mobility issues due to 2 fused vertebrae in her back. She had never been outside of a wire cage. I brought her to my vet…

After that initial visit to ABC vet, we got a call the same week that her fecal exam came back positive for giardia and I had to go pick up more meds for that. I looked up giardia and the main symptom is terrible diarrhea, but Gaz' poop was solid and she acted normal so I wasn't convinced but they know better of course.
3 weeks after that initial visit we went back to check on both her ear drum and the giardia. Her ear drum healed just fine as expected, and they did another fecal test to check…

I vistied the site today and I noticed I've been gone a while so I wanted to update you all on Isabel's issues. Originally, Isabel's vet diagnosed her with spina bifida. We took her in after her trainer noticed a slight oddity with her gait and stride. Our vet is somewhat of a frenchie expert and a really nice man, so he didn't do any x-rays or anything (to save us the cost), but he told us he was 85% sure this is what it was, based on his 30+ years of raising and taking care of french bulldogs.…

Does anyone know of any good treats to use for training? I am trying to find something on the softer side since our guys are still so little if it is too hard they won't eat it. I heard some people use small bits of cooked chicken.

Has anyone bought a French or English Bulldog In 2007/2008/2009.
Did you receive a sick puppy, did your puppy die....A lot of people have bought puppies from someone (LADY) listing their pups in the Toronto/Brampton Kijiji, Hoobly.com, Nextdaypets.com listings that ended up dying, or very ill. You know in your hearts what I am taking about, who I am talking about. Weather it is you, or someone you know that has bought a French, English Bulldog.
I know there are people out there and for whatever…

Is there anyone else with two male frenchies? We just got two brothers and they love each other dearly. However, when they start to play sometimes they start biting each others face and ears. Has anyone else had this experience?
Our vet told us it was natural to just let them work it out, but I don't want them to think it's okay to bit other dogs.

Hi!
We're just getting to know our first Frenchie, Brie. We've had Basset Hounds, Shar Pei and Great Danes in the past. Brie's main job in life is our pet. We don't plan to breed her. She just turned 5 months. I've noticed fur growing over her belly in the last week or so. When do most Frenchie ladies get their first heat?
Also, I read somewhere that Frenchies go into heat only once each year. What has your experience been regarding onset and frequency of estrus?
Thanks for your answers in ad…

Here is the story of the French bulldog I have she is 7 months old. I am watching her for a friend while they are on tour over in Iraq till February. Well I am feeding her Iams and only about 1/2 to a cup twice a day and this dog will litterly take 4 poops in the morning and sometimes I think she's done cause of the amount she has passed I'll head to work and almost everyday now she has gone poop in her crate. Its getting very frustrating cause I feel she hasn't been properly crate broken (left…

So it hasn't been much of a vacation this year. Timing for everything has been off, but we managed to get a few hours away from the hospital and on our boat to try to salvage just a few hours of our vacation anyway. So, Max has had his day on the boat earlier this summer and he loves it, though, at his age, it isn't easy on him to let Ben (his human) be in the water without trying to be in there with him. Ben jumped in and Max jumped in after him. Not good. In Max's younger days, he was a good s…

This came about as a suprise to me. I was sitting watching tv one night eating cantaloupes and my little Louis came and sat right next to me. One fell out of my plate and little Louis jets for it and chowed it down! He loves cantaloupes! I wanted to give him another one, but with his allergies history I told myself not to until I find more about it. So, my lovely friends and experts, are cantaloupes bad for our frenchies? Also what other fruits are good or bad for frenchies?
