Aw - I can't wait to see the pictures of her. Gibby should love the taste of the wild, you got the pacific stream formula, right? I was so disappointed that their other formulas contain chicken, so I can't rotate between them. Louie is the definition of picky, and he eats the TOTW plain, without any canned food on it, so I've been very surprised. He has gotten irritation spots in his arm pits and on his belly and thighs.. but they're small red circles, and he hasn't been itchy at all..

Once your little girl has had all her shots, we should try meeting up, my husband and I can come down to your neck of the woods, it would be so great to finally meet Louie's brother!!

WOW, Jill - your little girl is BEAUTIFUL!!! Love the white stripe on her face, and her white chest.. she looks like she is going to be an absolutely gorgeous girl when she grows up, no wonder why you're so excited. I had never heard of Ironworx but they look like they have top of the line dogs. If she ends up looking anything like her daddy, then just.. wow. He's amazing. Her mom is a beautiful dog too, I love the red/reverse brindles.

Forgot to add that the steroids make Louie completely itch free too, we used them for 3 consecutive weeks, but haven't used them since then, as I don't think they are a permanent solution, even though I know of some dogs that are on them long-term. They just have some nasty side effects, which is why I don't like them. He also got a much bigger appetite, and it's the steroids that helped him keep weight on, but every since we got Kirby, he has a bigger appetite, anyway. Raw really seemed to make a big difference with his allergies, but we had to give him Prilosec because he digested the raw too fast, making him throw up stomach acid.. so if it's not one thing, it's another. I'm going to go and look up at that breeder to look at your little girl, I bet she's darling!

Poor Gibby.. it's awful to have to deal with allergies, isn't it? They're just such a pain. We did have Louie tested, it was a little on the expensive side ($400) and I'm not so sure about the results.. they say that when the results are used in conjunction with an elimination diet that you can really have your dog be rid of his allergies once and for all, if they are food related.. but some of the things, I'd have to try and dig out the results that are filed away, but some of the things he came up being allergic to, he has never even had so not sure how he can be allergic to it. I think Louie (and maybe Gibby's too) problem is that he's not just allergic to the things he eats, but also has environmental allergies. Also, it probably doesn't help when I feed the dogs things like Cheetos and other snacks that I'm munching on considering they're made with corn.. They just stare up at me with those little eyes and I can't help but share!

You know.. I used to really like the Natural Balance.. but they've started changing up the ingredients.. and for a food that already had a low meat content, they've changed it so that there is even less meat in it, and still keeping the price just as high. So, I got fed up with it, and quit buying it. That's why I tried the Taste of the Wild, I have some friends that feed it and heard great things about it, and all 3 dogs love it and have wonderful stool on it.. but his little flare-ups seem to be proving that his skin is not loving it, which I don't get because it's a fish based food. It's so hard to find dog food that doesn't contain chicken whether it be chicken, chicken meal, chicken fat, or even chicken cartilage.. seems like almost everything has some kind of chicken in it! I had fed him Solid Gold Wolf King Bison, sometime last year, but it's not grain free, and he didn't like it a whole lot, but from what I remember didn't have any allergy reactions to it.. so maybe I need to try it again. It's never ending. :(

Hi Jill - Louie is definitely on the "leaner" side of a Frenchie. He's a healthy 27 lbs. now, believe it or not.. took me forever to get him to put on weight, and he still isn't heavy.. he's got longer legs than most Frenchies. Shirley actually won't even respond to my e-mails.. and when she did talk to me, she told me that "none of her dogs have ever looked like him" and told me that he was far too thin... Oh well! Been much happier with Kirby's breeder, she does keep in touch with me and actually found me on facebook and sent me a friend request, and she's been sending me picture updates of some of the pups she kept back that are about the same age as Kirby, it's so fun to watch puppies grow!

Louie's allergies are a mystery too. We have him on Taste of the Wild, Pacific Stream formula (it has smoked salmon and potatoes in it) and he absolutely loves the food.. it's the only food he'll eat without canned food mixed in with it. It doesn't have any chicken meal (he's allergic to chicken like Gibby) or even chicken fat or anything at all in it, yet he has these yucky red circle things on his arm pits, back of his thighs, and on his belly. For once he is NOT itchy, but instead is broke out with these things.. weird thing is, they don't bother him. When he was on Natural Balance or California Natural, he itched like CRAZY but did not have the spots. Thankfully Louie has never been stinky, or has had ear infections .. he once had a yeast infection between his paws from licking but that's it, he had to be on medication once for it, but that's all. My vet wants to put on him on prescription food and it just ain't happenin'. I refuse to feed any of my dogs any of that crap.

That is SO exciting that you are getting a new little Frenchie baby!! And a little girl.. I would love to have a third Frenchie, but it won't happen for awhile. My husband wants our next dog to be an English Bulldog. Whatever we get, it will be when we get another house, with a bigger yard!

So cute...I was wondering if you could possibly help me out. I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out where to get a frenchie. Everyone has me so freaked out online that you shouldn't do this/do that. Where did you get Gibby? I'm thinking of getting one from an Ohio breeder because there seems to be so much more breeders over there than in Michigan...

My gang is doing well, thanks for asking. Xack and Rich turned one year old in early August. I can't wait to hear when Jackie's girl has her babies, I am excited for her and you! Keep me posted, please!
