Anyway - I wish you lots of luck! It's a good thing puppies are cute, (especially Frenchies) because some times that is the only thing they have going for them! lol ;)

my dogs are 3 yrs, 2 yrs and my youngest is 8 months old, he's been house trained since he was about 6 months old, it will be very frustrating in the beginning, because when they are young, it seems like ALL they do is go to the bathroom.. and it feels like they will never learn, you just can't let yourself get frustrated, because having a puppy can and will be very overwhelming. But they do finally grasp onto the idea of what they are supposed to do. The most horrible thing with Kirby was that he would even go potty in his crate, so it got to be a pain, I had to keep getting a smaller and smaller crate to keep him from continuing that behavior. Now that he no longer goes in it, he has a very big crate, bot for awhile he had a crate that was only big enough for him to barely stand up and turn around in. He still has an accident here and there, but it is hardly ever, and it's always when he's in the middle of playing.. it's like he forgets and just starts peeing while he's running around with a toy!

Well, I try to use the general rule of thumb that a puppy can hold itself for 1 hour to every month old it is, but not to exceed 6 hours. So a 2 month old puppy (8 weeks) can only hold itself for 2 hours .. that means you have to get up every 2 hours at night time to take them out too.. or they will soil in the crate. Some people get lucky, and end up with a puppy that can sleep through most of the night, about 5-6 hours. No it's definitely not fun, but that's what you sign up for when you get a puppy, unfortunately. As you get to know your puppies personality, you should be able to decipher if they are whining because they have to go out and go potty, or if they are whining just to get out of their crate. You know they are completely house trained when they no longer have accidents in the house. In the beginning you have to constantly watch them like a hawk, and they spend more time in their crate (if you do crate training, which I find wayyy easier to house train if you do) than they do out of it. You feed them, take them outside, bring them back in, put them in their crate for an hour or so, take them out of the crate, and immediately take them outside , bring them in, play with them, take them outside, bring them in, put them back in their crate, etc. Make sure you take treats out with you, and praise the heck out of them when they go potty outside.. I did let them sleep in the bed when we first brought them home, because I am a light sleeper, and it was easier for me to wake up when they started moving around to take them out, but what I would find out, is they would sometimes even pee while they were sleeping! And that's just gross.. having to wake up in the middle of the night and wash and change all the bed sheets is not fun.. so I waited until they were a little older, and could hold themselves better, before I let them stay in the bed, and now I have no problems..

I sure do let all 3 sleep in bed with me. ;) It's nothing to do with who is the leader or not, just a personal preference. None of them were allowed to sleep in bed with us until they were 100% reliable with their house training. French Bulldogs are not hard to train, they are just stubborn. Be careful what you read online in regards to training, there is a lot of misleading information out there, and a lot of it is really outdated. We have a king size bed, that we bought specifically so that there would be enough room for my husband and I, and the dogs! I will warn you though that they know how to take up their fair share of room.. even when it is just one dog! Having said that, all of my dogs are all crate trained, and are kept in their crates when we are not home, just as a safety precaution, and to reinforce their house training. They also do not object to sleeping in their crates at night, if I'm super exhausted and just want room to sprawl all out without having a dog sleeping on me, or curled up next to me, I'll stick them all in their crate, this only happens a few times a month.

BTW - is that adorable little black masked puppy your soon-to-be new addition? If so CONGRATULATIONS! I love the black masked fawns and wanted one ever so badly before we got Kirby! I am hoping that our next frog is a black masked fawn.

Hello! Yes, I have ordered from hare-today, they have some wonderful products.. if you order make sure you get the meat FINE ground, otherwise there will be bones too large for a little Frenchie to chew! I also use a pre-made raw called Nature's Variety. I store it in a deep freezer, because it's recommended that thawed raw be fed within 24 hours.
