We brought our frenchie olive home two and a half weeks ago and were expecting problems with walking as we knew she hadn't been walked at the breeders and we live in the city. Well she surprised us by being a real treat on the leash. She will trot alongside us for hours, waiting at traffic lights, crossing on command BUTshe willnot walk away from the house!! I know it sounds stupid but it is a major frustration as we take her out 9 times a dayand deal with our little black and whitemule. She will just stare at the house, sitting or standing backwards. We've tried giving command once and then ignoring her until she walks which we then praise like it's our job. Even when you get her walking sometimes shell put on the brakes leading to her being dragged on her butt. Once you get her away from the house though she follows all her walking commands. Please help!!

Hi Brittney, I have problems getting my English Bulldog to go back in the house. She will just sit her butt down and not move. If I throw treats in front of her she will move forward without a problem. Maybe throwing treats will work for you. Good luck. Frances

Hmm... I've also experienced the sitting on the butt at the end of the sidewalk because she doens't want to come in... but not when we are leaving the house. But I did have a hard time getting Abby in a car for a few weeks after we brought her home... perhaps she thought the car meant what it did when we picked her up. I mean I had no idea it would take so long for her to get used to the car... then it took her longer to do the car with my husband than with me. I think you probably need time for little Olive to figure out that you ARE actually going to come home at some point. I think it takes repetition for it to snap in their heads that this is normal now. Just don't force her... I'm sure you aren't... I mean, you can't force a frenchie to do much of anything right? I think they have a way of physically gluing their butts to the floor if you do. LOL! Good luck with her.

I haven't had this particular issue with mine yet but a few things come to mind..just thinking out loud so if it helps great! What if you left from a different door than she's used to?? taking with you a fanny pack or treat holder filled with really yummy cheese cut in tiny little pieces and moved in a very purposeful way and the minute she acknowledged YOU give her a tiny reward until, hopefully, she would be more interested in you and those treats than the house and you could move away from the house. Maybe if you change up the location and way you leave the house she will be more willing?? You may have already tried these things..also, if you were to practice little "runs" just down the road a bit and reward her when you get there, turn around and go home?? Best of luck with your little one..her name is adorable. :)
