Has anyone tried click training with there frenchie? How did it work out? I am trying it now but am getting frustrated. I know it takes time but the dog has no intention of cooperation.
Any tips?

Hello :)
I am no expert, but have done a lot of dog training. My Bullmastiff and English Bulldog both have their Canine Good Citizen Certificate, my previous Bullmastiff (who passed away at 2 years old ) had his CGC, and I also had several other dogs that I either showed or just trained, but my experience is click training does not work for me. I would suggest you find a local dog training facility that you can go take classes. The reality is, what if you want your dog to do something and you don't have your clicker in your hand? I don't walk around with my cell phone in my hand, I could not possibly be expected to walk around with a clicker in my hand. You want your dog to listen to your voice & learn words and commands. A local dog training class will teach you and your dog to understand each other, and also teach your dog what you want him to do, and should be positive so he WANTS to do what you are asking him to do/not do. At a dog training facility your dog will be exposed to other dogs, other people, different situations and will build a bond between the two of you. Everyone who is around my bullie & EB are just amazed at how well mannered and how well they listen, they say "oh my dog is horrible, oh I could never do that with my dog, oh I could never have my dog in the front yard, if he saw something he would just take off and run, oh my dog does not listen to me". And I tell them,,,this is training....your dog is that way because you have done no training. It may take a few classes before he really starts responding, but believe me, dog training classes make all the difference in the world!! You may even want to continue further and get your dog a CGC certificate, do rally, or even complete a therapy dog certification and go visit nursing homes, children's hospitals etc.....
This is mearly my opinion, but click training does not work.

Thank you for your reply. I do have the dog in a local training class, but the trainer is using the click method. I have heard nothing but good things about the trainer, and just recently ran into some people that adopted a Bull Mastiff from the SPCA, and took it to this trainer. The dog had no prior training, apparently it was an older one, 6-7 years old, they said he did a complete 180 and passed the class easily. I am still a little skeptical though, I agree with you with the clicker and having to carry it around, I would rather have him listen to my voice. The money is non refundible now, so I really have no choice but to stick it out. Hopefully things start working, thank you again for your opinion, if this does not work, I will try and do some research on the training you were talking about and try that next.
